working on the backsplash next! I had to pause work in order to make this crazy thing:

that's a stick the kids found in the backyard, which we stuck in a pot, painted, and glued on their plastic easter eggs and some fake hydrangea I had floating around. What exactly is it? I'm going with "Holiday Centerpiece".. ?

Anyway I finished setting the tile and I'm grouting it tonight. The ex is making his monthly visit with the kids this weekend, so I'm excited for my break. I'll be back working on the backsplash on Monday!

I can't wait to be done with this. I think it's going to be awesome, not to mention cheap (my two favorite things). Here's the before:

edited to add**** here's the grout:

  1. I love the countertop-We remodeled most of our kitchen about a year ago, I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the countertops-and this looks great!

  2. Looks great Katy!! Seems like a big project...but it looks fab!! Can't wait to see your backsplash! :)

  3. Wonderful transformation, Katy! You did a wonderful job laying the tiles!

  4. You did a great job - love the difference and those green cabinets are beautiful! Love the color.

And your kids "holiday centerpiece" is very cute too!

I was a single-mom to just 1 kid (have 3 now) for about 6 years. It's not easy, but it's easier than living in heck. Good luck hun. I'm a follower now. :)
And thank you for the comment love on my ugly glittery vase makeover. I'm discovering that white paint does indeed transform anything.

  10. very nice. It'll be hard not to be happy in there every day.

Welcome to my three ring circus. Cake? Tequila? Pardon me while I cut this lumber and yell at my kids for the 100th time --

About Me

My photo
For many years I was a mechanical engineer by day, a house renovator by night, and a single mom. I previously built a tiny house on Tybee Island that I sold in 2015. Then I lost my day job, met Prince Charming, and now work full time demolishing (fixing) his lake house. ;) Stop by for the house stuff, stay for the never-ending disasters, pianos falling out of the sky, floods, threats of financial ruin, & panic attacks. It's like house flipping meets the zombie apocalypse! with lots of kids!
