My dad likes to build stuff too. Mostly boats. Here's his latest project:

Here are the plans he's working from:

But I think he's painting it more red white and blue. It's going to tow a pontoon boat in the 4th of July parade, held every year on the lake. We want to win first place for BEST FLOAT in the parade! My kids are going to be dressed as Popeye and Olive Oyl, riding in the tugboat.

Since this is also going to be the weekend of our big family reunion, one of my aunts in charge of designing the pontoon float wanted to know if I'd be willing to stand on the deck in a patriotic bikini.

LOL. My family is all about going nuts in pursuit of a goal. I'm sure I'm nothing like them.

  1. Oh my gosh.... how cool!
Your dad built a boat.... like father, like daughter!
I am looking forward to seeing photos of this water parade! (I've never seen one before!)
    Dee Dee

  2. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, your kids are truly blessed to have such a handy Mom and Grandpa. I vote YES for the bikini!

  3. All parades definitely need a sexy lady in a patriotic bikini! :-)

This is so creative! Wow, your whole family is of the crafty persuasion (maybe not the macrame kind of crafy, more the skilled artisan kind).

  4. This is great, Katy. It is sure to win and your kids dressed as Popeye and Olive is going to send it over the top!

  5. crazy amazing! a family that builds together... parades together?

regardless, those are some blessed kiddies you have!

  6. You know the old saying: "Skin to win!" Ha!

Welcome to my three ring circus. Cake? Tequila? Pardon me while I cut this lumber and yell at my kids for the 100th time --

About Me

My photo
For many years I was a mechanical engineer by day, a house renovator by night, and a single mom. I previously built a tiny house on Tybee Island that I sold in 2015. Then I lost my day job, met Prince Charming, and now work full time demolishing (fixing) his lake house. ;) Stop by for the house stuff, stay for the never-ending disasters, pianos falling out of the sky, floods, threats of financial ruin, & panic attacks. It's like house flipping meets the zombie apocalypse! with lots of kids!
