Just in time for 2013!

Floorplans:

(this is my basic concept, ignore the colors hahahaa)

I know some of you have been dying to see these plans, and trust me SO HAVE I. My architect is awesome and I love him like cake. You can see his other work here at Cadman Designs. Introducing Mark Cadman, yes his last name is CADman, I couldn't believe it either. (You engineers and draftsmen will get that)! I will be chasing him down and getting him to pose for a picture next time so we can all put a face to the name. And the contractor too, if I can be sneaky about it. :)

Can I get an AMEN, a high five, a shout-out to Mark, and about $20,000 to fall out of the sky?  Oh yes. Stay tuned.....

  1. AMAZING! Very impressive. I could stare at this for ages. Gotta ask -- what are the Insane Sailboat Bunk Beds?

  2. LOL that was his joke to me because I was showing him pictures of boat-shaped beds floating on the walls -- you have to check out my Pinterest account to see what I mean :) I'm going to be building some fun stuff in this house!

  3. Impressive, Katy! Very nice use of space.

I can confirm that "insane" is a legitimate architectural drafting term.

  5. Katy those plans are wonderful, loved the exposed rafter tails and metal roof. I keep telling my hubby when we replace the roof it must be metal but he's not buying it :( Can't wait to see it finally come to life.

  9. So exciting!! The plans look awesome. And I can hardly believe your architects name is Cadman; he must have loved that in school.

  14. ...ta da! I found your site by accident exactly 8.2 hours ago ;0 I've been riveted with every post starting back from 2009. I couldn't WAIT to get to this point (I'd peeked and knew your plans would be at the end). Love your spirit and find your resourcefulness so inspiring. Thanks for sharing it, I'm a fan!

  16. I'm a week behind on seeing these, but they look awesome. I love small homes that make the most of all the space. CADman...classic. That guy must get all the jobs...because afterall, he is the 'Cadman.'

  17. I love the size and style of this house (not to mention your entire blog). Looking at the plans, to me it almost looks like the one labeled left elevation would be the front and the one labeled front would be the right. If I may ask, is it personal preference that it'll be situated that way or is it due to the site orientation (sun, wind, etc.)?

  18. excellent question Jada! It is designed this way because of the lot and all of the building codes. The lot is soooo tiny, and the building envelope is a diamond shape, plus the building department had a "rule" about the front door having to face the street - even though this is a corner lot ! there were a ton of issues, I had to hire the surveyor TWICE, and I'm just thankful we've made it this far :)

Welcome to my three ring circus. Cake? Tequila? Pardon me while I cut this lumber and yell at my kids for the 100th time --

About Me

My photo
For many years I was a mechanical engineer by day, a house renovator by night, and a single mom. I previously built a tiny house on Tybee Island that I sold in 2015. Then I lost my day job, met Prince Charming, and now work full time demolishing (fixing) his lake house. ;) Stop by for the house stuff, stay for the never-ending disasters, pianos falling out of the sky, floods, threats of financial ruin, & panic attacks. It's like house flipping meets the zombie apocalypse! with lots of kids!
