The first 6 months of this year were complete hell -- the worst in my almost-6-years-of-single-parenting. I will spare the re-hashing of all the misfortune that has fallen on me and my family in 2014.
I know that things could always be worse. Yes, I know that. :(  I am grateful. The devil that you know vs. ?? and all of that...
Things look different now... and I am relieved. Rain falls on the just and the unjust, selah! I certainly could have (and from the looks of things - should have) lost everything. This blog is never going to be a real estate investor's handbook, and nobody should follow my lead. DoN't TRy tHiS aT HoME LolZ! I will help you right over a cliff while we ride a purple bedazzled unicorn~ yes!

Ahem.
We are working on window treatments :)
In other news, I have permanently left behind a career that filled my head and heart with nothing but stress. I am sure there are engineering jobs somewhere that don't make you want to shave your head and take up cliff diving - but unfortunately not in my world.

We are still in transition and I haven't figured out all the details yet, but for now I'm going to just post pics of my finished project and try to enjoy my newfound peace. I have more projects in my future, of that I am sure.

I took this one before the French doors got their coat of raspberry purple paint :)

In fact, I can feel the thundering hooves of another unicorn, galloping this way as I type this....I'm ready to put 2014 behind me and start over. Who's ready for another ride? :)

Incidentally, my friend Trent in Charleston has an episode of his showing on HGTV this Thursday (9/11/14) at 10pm, and Sunday (9/14/14) at 7:30 pm - I am so excited to see him get on HGTV!!! He is a dynamo house rehabber! :) Congrats Trent!  :))))

  6. We have a lot in common you and I. 2014 has SUCKED a MASSIVE NUT for me as well. I am ready to put it WAY past me. I have been blogging irregularly as hell too. It's like my system was just shocked into a numb position. Trying to open up again though. Trying to move on. Good luck to you. I'm hoping things are smoothing out for you. I am in lust with your beach house. IN. LUST.

  7. Yay! Katy is still alive and breathing! Yay! Katy still has the beach house! God's peace, love, guidance, protection, favor and blessings for you, my dear. The single parent thing gets better with time. As the kids get older there are fewer things to argue about and the single cell donor fades to the primordial ooze he didn't come from but belongs in.

Welcome to my three ring circus. Cake? Tequila? Pardon me while I cut this lumber and yell at my kids for the 100th time --

About Me

My photo
For many years I was a mechanical engineer by day, a house renovator by night, and a single mom. I previously built a tiny house on Tybee Island that I sold in 2015. Then I lost my day job, met Prince Charming, and now work full time demolishing (fixing) his lake house. ;) Stop by for the house stuff, stay for the never-ending disasters, pianos falling out of the sky, floods, threats of financial ruin, & panic attacks. It's like house flipping meets the zombie apocalypse! with lots of kids!
