Things are moving - literally.  I've put up my house for sale, and it's been a little surreal cleaning out the years of accumulated junk. I can't believe I moved here 6 years ago (that's also when I started this blog). I also tentatively sold the Tybee cottage. Soon I will be homeless! (not really ;))

Here are some listing photos (but first a picture of the kitchen when I moved in) -

I am still in love with my bird cabinet, I want to build another one. I seriously need a carpentry business but nobody will pay the prices I would have to charge :P

and my pallet wall is still alive, although the room has been emptied so I wouldn't exactly call this "livable" -- showing a house and living in it are always very different things.

Okay, so !!  On to the next thing!  And HGTV wants to put the Tybee cottage in one of their magazine publications this summer, so that is cool.

Once I am homeless I will show you my new project. ;)

I hope y'all are surviving this insane spring monsoon, stay dry and I will be back with more soon. xoxo

  1. Wow your home is gorgeous. I am sure it will do great on the market. I wouldn't write off the carpentry business. Your work is fantastic and some people most definitely can and do pay for high quality work!

  3. Katy a huge congratulations to you on the HGTV mag feature! Well deserved. And I must say I'm pretty sure your pallet wall was one of the firsts out there. Good luck on the sale and moving, it's trying but hopefully all worth it in the end!

  4. Katy, the things you've done in your house are amazing! I love, love, love the kitchen! and totally agree that you should really think about the carpentry business.... your furniture transformation (or the palette walls) are work of art!

  7. I am SO happy I dropped in after all this time Katy. I'm sad that last year was tough for you, but THRILLED that you have meaningful work now that doesn't leave you stressed and exhausted. BIG changes coming...selling the houses...relocating...wishing you the VERY best young'un...from an old admirer...

Welcome to my three ring circus. Cake? Tequila? Pardon me while I cut this lumber and yell at my kids for the 100th time --

About Me

My photo
For many years I was a mechanical engineer by day, a house renovator by night, and a single mom. I previously built a tiny house on Tybee Island that I sold in 2015. Then I lost my day job, met Prince Charming, and now work full time demolishing (fixing) his lake house. ;) Stop by for the house stuff, stay for the never-ending disasters, pianos falling out of the sky, floods, threats of financial ruin, & panic attacks. It's like house flipping meets the zombie apocalypse! with lots of kids!
